What trips people up about Cognism's pricing

Cognism's biggest pricing trap is the export cap nobody mentions upfront. Both Platinum and Diamond include up to 2,000 exports per user per month — but only 25 contacts at a time. If your team pulls lists in bulk, you'll hit that cap constantly. Bulk exports beyond 25 contacts require separate bulk export credits, purchased on top of your plan. The other thing that catches buyers: Cognism is annual-only, no monthly option, and the per-user rate drops at 4–5 users and again at 6–10. If you're a 3-person team, you're paying the highest per-seat rate.

Hidden Costs

4 items
Why this matters
The advertised starting price is rarely the price you pay at scale. These are the costs buyers most commonly encounter after signing — ones that aren't prominently disclosed on the pricing page.
Bulk exports cost extra — the 25-at-a-time cap is a real constraint
Both plans advertise 2,000 exports per user per month, but exports are capped at 25 contacts at a time. Pulling a list of 500 contacts requires 20 separate manual exports. Any bulk export beyond 25 at a time requires purchasing additional bulk export credits on top of your plan cost.
Bombora intent is Diamond-only
Intent data requires the Diamond tier at $5,400/user/yr minimum. Teams on Platinum have no intent signals.
Volume discounts only kick in at 4+ users
The $3,600 rate applies to 1-3 users. Pricing doesn't improve meaningfully until you hit 4 seats ($3,000/user) or 6 seats ($2,550/user). Small teams pay a significant per-user premium.
Annual contracts only
Cognism does not offer monthly billing. Minimum commitment is one year.

Real-World Pricing Scenario

what you'll actually pay
Scenario: 5-rep sales team on Platinum plan
List price
$15,000/yr (5 users at $3,000/user)
What you should pay
$12,000–$13,000/yr
How to get there

Cognism drops to $3,000/user at 4–5 users (from $3,600) automatically. Push further by bringing a ZoomInfo or Apollo quote and asking what they can do to win the business outright. The 25-at-a-time export cap is a real pain point — use it as leverage to negotiate bulk export credits into the deal.

Negotiation Reality

What we know

Cognism is negotiable at EOQ/EOY. Volume discounts are structured — push to commit to 6+ seats if you're close to a tier boundary to drop from $3,600 to $2,550/user on Platinum. Teams switching from ZoomInfo or Apollo have leverage. EMEA coverage is a genuine differentiator that limits price competition for internationally-focused teams.

Negotiation intel is based on first-hand vendor research conducted by the SBB team, third-party procurement data, and community-reported contract outcomes. Individual results vary. Discounts are not guaranteed.

General tips
  • Ask at end-of-quarter — sales reps have monthly and quarterly targets
  • Get competing quotes before your first call
  • Ask specifically about first-year discounts vs. renewal rates
  • Request a multi-year rate even if you plan to buy one year
