Hidden Costs

3 items
Why this matters
The advertised starting price is rarely the price you pay at scale. These are the costs buyers most commonly encounter after signing — ones that aren't prominently disclosed on the pricing page.
Contact limits on lower tiers
Starter caps at 1,000 contacts, Basic at 2,500, Professional at 15,000. Growing teams hit these limits quickly and must upgrade or purge data.
Google Workspace dependency
Copper is designed around Google Workspace. If your team uses Outlook or Microsoft 365, Copper loses most of its core value proposition. It is effectively not viable outside the Google ecosystem.
Price jump to Business
The jump from Professional ($69/mo) to Business ($134/mo) is nearly 2x for unlimited contacts. Teams with large databases face a steep upgrade cost.

Negotiation Reality

What we know

Copper is moderately negotiable on annual plans for teams of 5+. Competing quotes from Pipedrive or HubSpot are effective leverage. Annual billing saves meaningfully — roughly 25–30% across tiers vs monthly list price.

General tips
  • Ask at end-of-quarter — sales reps have monthly and quarterly targets
  • Get competing quotes before your first call
  • Ask specifically about first-year discounts vs. renewal rates
  • Request a multi-year rate even if you plan to buy one year
